Principles - what we believe at The Toolworks

We take a common sense approach to tool development based on some key principles that we have found lead to the optimum tool for the job:

• User led – balance business, design and technology inputs
• Adaptive – evolve through iteration to elicit and respond to needs - see agile
• Uncomplicated – manage complexity, adding no more features than useful
• Self-evident – minimise behaviour change and use clear language and metaphors
• Pattern based – building on proven insights and components - see patterns
• Context specific – providing bespoke tools not customising standards

We apply these principles in all our work and keep it as simple as possible - but no simpler.
